Hampshire, Pakistan Valley

Hunza is known as one of the most beautiful valleys in the world. It is far from the hustle and bustle of the city. On one side are several snowy mountains with an altitude of over 7,000 meters, and on the other side are majestic glaciers. Snow and glacial meltwater flow into the valley, forming an oasis. The castles and villages are built in turn, with scattered terraces and exquisite gardens. The beautiful natural scenery, the simple folk customs, and the tranquility of the millennium have made Hunza a true paradise, one of the longest life expectancy in the world.

Miyazaki used this as a prototype to create the classic work “The Valley of the Wind”.

Original and pure wind valley, snowy mountains, glaciers and dammed lakes
Hunza’s northern part of Pakistan-controlled Kashmir is a high-altitude valley near the Chinese border. The snow-capped peaks and glaciers are the most densely populated areas in the world except the north and south poles. They are called “the ultimate manifestation of the alpine solemnity.” The Hunza Valley, deep in this area, is famous for its natural features of snow-capped mountains and valleys, attracting a large number of climbers and tourists.

Among the snow-capped mountains around the Hunza Valley, the three most important snow-capped mountains are Lacaposi, Urta, and Dylan, all at an altitude of over 7,000 meters. The highest altitude of Lakaposi, up to 7788 meters, is the world’s 27th, Pakistan’s 12th peak, and is considered to be the most beautiful snow mountain in the region.

Hunza is famous for its beautiful and pure natural scenery. In the valley, snow-capped mountains and glacial meltwater form an oasis of rivers, like an idyllic pastoral song; and the dammed lake with wonderful peacock blue water has become Hunza in recent years. Another popular attraction.
Opposite Laka Posi is the Urta Peak at 7,388 meters above sea level, one of the most difficult peaks in the world. So far, this dangerous peak has only two successful summits, and most of the losers have paid a heavy price. Thirty years ago, the famous Japanese mountaineering father, Gu Chuan, was killed in the climb of Urta and was buried in the base of Urta. Later, his wife set up a Hasegawa Memorial Public School, which provided great help to the development of education in the Hunza area. The locals kindly called it “Japanese School”; because of the story of Hasegawa and his wife’s Contributions, photos of Hasegawa are still covered with major hotels and outdoor stores in Hunza.

On one side of the Urta, there is a scene of huge black glaciers and white snow. The black glaciers are like a black torrent, overturned on the mountain, and the scorpion is smashing; while the line of sight continues to rise, you can see The snow on the peaks is white and contrasts with the deep glaciers, and the visual effect is very shocking. There are a lot of glaciers near the Hunza Valley. In addition to this, there are several large-scale glaciers, some of which even converge. These glaciers are among the largest glaciers in the world except the polar glaciers.

In addition to snow-capped mountains and glaciers, Hunza has another popular attraction in recent years: Atba Lake. The Lake Atba Lake was formed by a large-scale landslide in 2010. It once caused great trouble to the lives and traffic of local residents. Later, with the help of the Chinese government and the Pakistani government, the locals rebuilt their homes and traffic. And the Lake Atba is listed as a tourist attraction, and hotels, cafes and shops are built along the coast, and visitors are constantly coming.

The most amazing thing about Atba Lake is that this lake has a wonderful peacock blue, whether it is spring, summer, autumn or winter, sunny or rainy. When the sun is shining, the lake is clear and the blue lake is crystal clear. When the rain or light is dark, the blue is deep and quiet. If you feel that you are not enjoying yourself at the lake, you can also take a colorful boat to the lake. You can see that the blue waters are slightly rippled. The lakeside plants are lush and green, not far from the snow-capped mountains. This pure beauty makes everyone unforgettable… …

Every visitor to Hunza can feel the unique tranquility and comfort. The glacial meltwater nourishes the land, where the original appearance, pure air, almost completely pollution-free. People never worry about high-reverse, and they don’t worry about getting sick – plague diseases seem to jeopardize this narrow valley. There have been few cancer, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases in the past few years, and this miraculous phenomenon has been attributed to the natural environment. In 1964, two American doctors traveled long distances to Hunza for medical investigations and found that it is one of the longest-lived areas in the world.

The secret kingdom castle in Karakorum and the past and present life of the village
Hunza, this land surrounded by mountains, was little known for its long-term isolation. It was not until 1986, when the Karakoram Highway was opened, Hunza officially entered the outside world; afterwards, with the investigation of scholars and experts, the two landmarks of Hunza and Hunza – Alte and Balti The history of the fort has gradually unveiled the veil.

In the 15th century, Hunza was an independent kingdom, and the King of Hunza lived in the Fort of Altit. Later, King Hansa married the princess of Baltistan, a neighboring country. The princess who married to Hunza did not like the castle of Altet, so he was refurbished by the craftsmen. After the renovation, the princess was still dissatisfied and simply ordered the reconstruction of an old castle, the Baltit Castle. Later, the Balti Castle became the new king’s palace.

Built on the cliffs, the ancient castle of Altit is a stone-wood structure, easy to defend and difficult to design. It is said that the guards of the castle are hidden behind the door, and it is easy for an outsider to be found once they enter, but the intruder does not easily find the guard. There is also a well-style cell in the castle. The entrance is like a skylight, which is very high from the ground, so that the prisoners have nowhere to escape. Baltiot Castle is not the same as Altit, because Baltistan has a strong cultural and ethnic connection with Ladakh (now India), so the Balti Castle, built under the wishes of the Princess, has Tibetan architecture. The style is similar to the Potala Palace.

At the beginning of the 19th century, the Kingdom of Hunza was invaded by the Kashmiri army. However, with its unique geographical advantage, the Hunza Kingdom successfully resisted the four Kashmir attacks, and finally it was helpless to retreat. The two castles were completely preserved. In the late 19th century, the British gained the dominion of the Hunza kingdom. They demolished the walls, watchtowers and a few rooms of Balti, and repaired them according to British style. In 1945, the last king of Hunza moved to another new palace on the hill. The castle that had survived the storm was abandoned.

The Baltites Castle is now operated and maintained by the Balti Heritage Trust and is officially open to visitors. Located in the mid-mountain gardens of the Serena, it is the best location to see the Baltic Castle and the Urta Snow Mountain. Someone once took a photo here. The old castle in the photo stands quietly under the snowy mountains. Since then, countless people have come to Hunza because of the scenery on this photo.

This situation also reflects the face of Hunza today. Today’s Hunza, the tourism industry is in full swing, and various high-end hotels and shops have risen. The most expensive hotel in the local area, Serena, has the most beautiful gardens and has a great view of the scenery; but if you want to see the full picture of the castle of Altet, it is necessary to come to the highest-rated hotel in Hunza – the Eagle’s Nest Hotel I stayed for one night. The Eagle’s Nest Hotel is a legend of Hunza. It is located at the commanding heights, sitting in the most beautiful landscape of the Valley of the Winds, the closest to the stars. Entering the room, pushing open the window, the river valley in front of you is more magnificent.

Standing on the hotel’s balcony, holding a cup of hot drink, watching the centuries-old castle under the snowy mountains, and the ancient villages surrounding the castle, you can see the past and present of Hunza, hidden in the mountains.

The most peaceful and open faith and culture under the snowy mountain wedding and the Gulben Festival
As a Muslim country, Pakistan has many domestic factions. The Hunza residents believe in the Ismaili school and are known as the most peaceful and open Muslim faction. Karimabad, the capital of Hunza, is named after the spiritual leader of the Ismaili Karim Aga Khan.

In Hunza, everyone is proud of their beliefs. The Hunza people believe that although the Ismaili school is the least faction, it is the best faction. Their belief in religion is rooted in the heart and does not need to be expressed through external forms. Another feature of the Ismaili school is respect for women. Women living in Hunza do not need to be covered, even their hair can be exposed outside. They don’t have to be afraid to walk in the street at night. When they are old, they go to school and accept equality with men. Education.

In this peaceful and open religious atmosphere, coupled with the economic development brought about by the local tourism industry, Hunza has become one of the most educated areas in Pakistan, and even five or six-year-old children can speak fluent English. In the small town, there are not only elementary school junior high schools, but also a women’s college. The kind and enthusiastic people, wearing traditional Pakistani robes, danced cheerfully during the festival to express their feelings.

These enthusiasm to the almost romantic Hunza, is also full of happiness in life. In Hunza, September is a month of marriage. There are drums and laughter everywhere, and the caravans with flowers on the road pass by one after another. Because it was soon Muharam of the Islamic Shiites, Muharram, there was no celebration for 40 days. Although most of the residents of the Valley of the Winds are Ismaili, there is no such custom, but they must respect other sects and cannot hold any celebrations in a big way. So everyone is rushing to get married before Muhalam.

Hunza’s wedding is more like a large-scale group dance. The open space under the castle of Altet, because of a wedding, is surrounded by men, women and children in the village. The scene is lively and extraordinary. At the wedding, the musicians used their strength to play the music that had not been known for many years. Every man in the village had to go up and jump for a while; the children occupied the best position and watched. Not shy, generous to smile.

At the end of the dance, a couple of newcomers came to the doorstep. The children who were already ready to start spreading flowers, the groom gave the family a red envelope with milk and crepes at the door, then ate the pizza with the bride, drank milk, and finally cut the red rope together. Walk into the house. The guests followed, waiting for their warm hospitality and the prepared meals. After the satiated meal, the guests gradually dispersed, and the wedding under the snow mountain came to an end.

Like most Muslims, Hunza will pass the Eid al-Adha festival. The Gulben Festival is a festival in which family members reunite for a big meal. The banquet is also known as the mutton festival. Eating a mutton dinner at the Eid al-Adha festival is especially a local speciality: Hunza Water. This is a low-alcoholic wine made from pure natural real estate white mulberry. It won’t be hangover or hangover, but it will be sweet and refreshing.

Sitting in the open space in the village, watching people dance and dance happily under the snowy mountains. I think that the residents of the Valley of the Wind have been living leisurely for thousands of years. I can’t help but feel that this feeling is too wonderful. Living in Hunza, every day, pushing a window is a giant painting called nature. In the morning, there is sunshine in Jinshan. At night, there are stars in the sky. There are countless fruit trees and flowers outside the house. The mountains are snow-capped and the river at the foot of the mountain has a long history. If you see Nausicaa suddenly appearing, stepping on the plane between the valleys, presumably people will not be surprised at all.
