Bank robbery

Numerous bizarre bank robberies have occurred in Naples, Italy. The robbery gangs turned out to be like “Teenage Ninja Turtles” active underground in the city, sneaking into a number of bank vaults through the sewers and looting jewellery gold. On April 17, 2008, a series of bank robberies were finally solved, which ended the half-year-long police chase. Astonishingly, the leader of the robbery gang turned out to be the former minister of the “Sewage and Sewerage Department” of the Municipal Council of Naples.
Thieves ransacked the magic 100 million euros six months
from September 2007, the Italian city of Naples, after another spate of bizarre bank robbery. In many robberies, the robbers looted at least more than 100 million euros (approximately 1.1 billion yuan) of jewellery gold from several major banks in Naples!
On six occasions, the Naples police almost caught the robbers who were about to commit robbery. But the strange thing is that these cunning robbers magically slip away under the police’s nose every time and disappear without a trace.
What embarrassed the police was that three of the robberies happened in the same bank, the “Anton Venneta Bank” on the Humberto I Promenade, a famous tourist attraction in Naples. The bank is across the street from the world-famous San Carlo Opera House. The bank is usually crowded with people and has strict security measures.
One night in February, the robbers again “visited” Anton Vennetta Bank. After the police got the information, they sent a large number of police officers to hide in the bank in advance, “waiting for nothing.” When the robbers appeared at the bank, the long-awaited police officers rushed out immediately. To their surprise, almost in the blink of an eye, the culprit disappeared quickly, not knowing where to escape.
After drilling into the “ground” and committing the crime, the “world evaporates”
. The police in Naples did not even dream of it. The robbers’ “escape secret” was in the sewer under the bank. This is the same as escaping from the sewer after stealing the “Golden Mask” from the museum in the movie “Trap”
This criminal group used the same tactics for every robbery. It had been carefully planned before: first lock the target bank, and then rent an underground residential unit near the bank. When the bank staff got off work, they started work and used nights and weekends to dig a passage to the bank’s underground vault. Once the tunnel was dug a few weeks later, they sneaked into the bank’s underground vault through these secret tunnels, and then moved the vault. All the jewels and gold in the safe deposit box were looted. After every crime, the robbers sneaked into the sewer connected to the tunnel and escaped, thus “evaporating” themselves.
In order to escape successfully, the robbers are very thoughtful every time to ensure that those tunnels are connected to the city’s sewer system so that the “maze” sewers can be used as escape routes. In order to do this, the robbers even used a computer to create a three-dimensional map model of the complicated sewer system in Naples. Before committing a crime, they will conduct a “virtual exercise” on the computer to find the best course of action.
The sewer system in Naples is intricate, and the inside is even more cold and dark, and most people can hardly recognize the direction when entering it. Why can the robbers get out of this super maze smoothly every time?
Professional guidance for the sewer “maze” to advance and retreat freely
On April 17, the Naples police finally arrested all 22 robbers in a raid. The “sewage bank robbery” that plagued the police finally revealed the truth.
The police rigorously questioned the arrested and discovered that the leader of the gang who planned the “Sewage Bank Robbery” was actually Salvator Oliva, the former minister of the “Sewage and Sewer Department” of the Municipal Council of Naples!
As the leader in charge of the city’s sewer system, Oliva certainly knows all about sewers. He used relevant work experience and skills, as well as his knowledge of the city’s underground ditch network, to help the robbers locate the underground ditch as a base camp and hiding place. No wonder it is difficult for the police to track them down.
A local police spokesperson revealed to a newspaper in Naples: “No one knows the underground pipes of Naples better than Oliva. He can roam around in these sewers with his eyes closed. He is the same about the structure of all drains. He knew exactly where the main water pipe was and where there were dangerous cables.”
Oliva used the information he possessed to enable the robbers to get into the sewer exit connected to the tunnel without hesitation after each bank robbery, and then dive into the maze-like complex sewer network under the streets of Naples. Although the sewers were cold, humid and smelly, Oliva could always lead the robbers to find a way out and escape.
Professionals dedicated police bodyguards when the ghost
police, although only 22 members, but this gangsta sound network of as much as any, a veteran Italian mafia organization. Its members come from different industries, and many of them are still “cutting figures” in their industries. According to their respective “expertises” and “features”, each person has a specific division of labor within the gang.
In order to “safely hunt”, the bandit “developed” three police officers. Every time when the other robbers commit crimes, the three police officers wear police uniforms outside the bank and are responsible for hiding the stolen money after the robbery. The culprit was discovered by a police officer preparing to conduct a raid when committing a crime. However, the three police insiders successfully convinced their colleagues that they were on duty and that “everything in the bank is normal.”
In addition, the police also discovered that in order to gain expertise in anti-theft and communication systems, at least two security guards from the robbed bank were also bought by the robbery gang with a lot of money and became the robber’s “security consultants”, specializing in how to avoid the alarm. The system advises them. The security guard revealed the bank alarm model used by the bank to the robbers and told them how to easily “paralyze” these alarm systems.
A phone call from Bai Mi uncovered the “stealing trap” and
a series of “sewer bank robberies” caused panic in Naples. The Deputy Chief of the Naples Police Department Vittorio Pisani and Massimo Sacco, the leader of the anti-looting maneuver team, jointly led the investigation team responsible for the “Sewage Bank Robbery”. After six months of hunting, the police finally found it. A breakthrough in the investigation of the case.
The police were shocked to discover that this group of robbers had a tight layout. In order to get away with it, they had thought about all the problems that might be encountered in committing the crime and prepared corresponding countermeasures accordingly. In order to conceal his true identity, the gang also uses a pseudonym. When they called, they used the names of famous football stars such as Luis Figo and Genaro Gattuso as “codenames” to prevent their identities from being exposed. However, even though the gangs devised various tactics for cover, they still could not escape the police’s nets. They showed their feet under the close tracking of the police.
Not long ago, the police intercepted and eavesdropped on the content of the call between the robber leader Oliva and a local mafia, bringing the secret of the gang to the surface. At that time, Oliva called a Naples mafia boss, requesting the latter to “open” his “turf” to the robber group and allow them to rob banks in a neighborhood controlled by the mafia. After some bargaining, the mafia boss agreed to this request, but asked for a “commission” on the stolen goods. Subsequently, the police followed the clues and finally grasped the law of the robbery gang and quietly laid a net. On April 17, the police finally closed the net and launched a raid on Oliva’s gang, killing the 22-man bandit all at once.
