How is the Hyperloop?
In 2013, Elon Musk, the founder of Tesla and SpaceX, announced a plan to build a Hyperloop, a capsule train that uses magnetic levitation technology to move in a vacuum pipeline. Afterwards, this kind of vacuum capsule high-speed train was collectively referred to as the “super high-speed rail”.

Since then, although the development of Hyperloop has not received as much attention as rockets and electric cars, there is no shortage of players participating. Virgin Hyperloop (formerly Hyperloop One) is the most important company. On November 9, 2020, Virgin Hyperloop completed the first manned test of the Hyperloop in the desert of Las Vegas, USA. The test vehicle ran the entire distance in a pipeline with a diameter of 3.3 meters and a length of 500 meters in 15 seconds. The final test speed is only 172 kilometers per hour, which is far from the 1000 kilometers per hour that Musk envisioned, and it is also far lower than China’s high-speed rail. For this speed, Virgin Hyperloop explained that the main reason is to take into account the comfort of passengers and the runway is too short to accelerate.

At present, this company has reached cooperation agreements with the governments of Saudi Arabia, Spain, and India, and plans to start commercial operations in 2030.

The Hyperloop is not far away from us. In early February 2021, Guangdong Province also proposed a plan for high-speed magnetic levitation lines. Prior to this, Chengdu also launched the world’s first high-temperature superconducting high-speed maglev engineering prototype and test line using technology from Southwest Jiaotong University.

Fashion week has completely changed
At the end of February 2020, the new crown epidemic began to spread in Italy. At that time, the fashion brands that were preparing for Milan Fashion Week hurriedly changed their original plans. Some brands abandoned the catwalks, and some tried to move the shows online.

A year later, the epidemic has not cleared, but fashion brands are already familiar with online shows. Last September, Milan Fashion Week received more than 43 million views online. This year, as the organizers of London Fashion Week and Milan Fashion Week set up professional multimedia platforms in advance, the scale of Fashion Week has also recovered. At the end of February, the Italian National Fashion Chamber of Commerce announced that their online center will host 133 show releases during the March Fashion Week.

In the past, an important significance of fashion week was that brands must “go there to fight for the show” to communicate. After turning online, the concepts of time and geography began to fade. The most prominent is undoubtedly New York Fashion Week. On February 9th, CFDA Chairman Tom Ford simply announced that New York Fashion Week would be renamed “American Collections Calendar” to support American designers to release their works at any time and anywhere in the world. .

Since 2017, the four major fashion weeks have begun to face the situation of fewer catwalks and brands wanting to find a new mode of communication with consumers. The epidemic may just give them a chance to change.
