Why is China’s body armor the number one in the world?

In the case of liberalizing market competition, China often plays the role of “developed country pulverizer”.
China is the world’s largest producer of body armor, accounting for 70% of the global market share.
During the Iraq War, 12 British soldiers were surrounded by enemy forces. With few enemies and many enemies, the British army rushed out of the encirclement, and the body armor was beaten into a hornet’s nest. Some people even shot 12 times, but the body armor was not penetrated. In the end, only one person died of being hit in the brain. .
At that time, they were wearing bulletproof vests produced by Ningbo Dacheng Company. The news was sent back to the UK, and the British government specially issued a letter of thanks. This incident also made China’s body armor famous in the world and won a huge order.
The United States and India are also inseparable from Chinese bulletproof vests.
Even the United States, it is difficult to continue to be arrogant in the face of Chinese bulletproof vests. In July 2018, the U.S. Pentagon launched the “U.S. Military Industry Basic Survey” project, which included the U.S. military’s dependence on foreign products. As a result, they found that the US military’s dependence on Chinese manufacturing is very prominent.
A body armor worn by American soldiers reads: 100% American soldiers, defending freedom, made in the United States. However, when the label on the back was lifted, “Made in China” came into view impressively. The commissary at the US military base is also filled with all kinds of Chinese products.
As a military power, the United States is a bit embarrassed when it comes to body armor. ZTE and Huawei can be banned, and a series of “entity lists” can be listed, but Chinese body armor cannot be banned. It is said that many American soldiers do not use the body armor issued by the United States, but buy Chinese body armor out of their own pockets.
Even if the United States is like this, another country, India, has no confidence to resist. India has always been “proud of domestic production” in the military field, but in fact it is also inseparable from Chinese manufacturing.
The Indian Ministry of Defense and the local Indian company SMPP have signed an order for 186,000 boron carbide ceramic body armor. Like India’s previous weapons research and development, India still claims to be “Made in India” for the purchase of body armor this time. The slap in the face is that the Indian media found that more than half of the raw materials for SMPP’s body armor are imported from China.
Why do Chinese bulletproof vests kill colleagues
? In 2017, a video of “Chinese bulletproof plates scaring Americans” was circulated wildly on the Internet.
An American spent $100 to buy a Chinese four-level bulletproof plate. With the mood of laughing at “Made in China”, the little brother was going to a bulletproof test. Before starting, every pore on my brother’s face revealed contempt. However, after the younger brother shot directly at close range with various guns one after another, he was obviously shocked when he saw that the bullets still failed to penetrate the bulletproof plate.
In contrast, the people who eat melons in the video comment area are not surprised, and a high praise commented: “Believe me, many American manufacturers will buy armor from China and then label it as ‘Made in America’. ”
For $200, you can buy a Chinese-made ceramic body armor/plate, which can meet the needs of “defense against medium-caliber full-power bullets at close range”; for up to $2,000, you can be “whole body invulnerable.” In contrast, similar products with the same performance, which are made in the West, cost at least $500. Good quality and low price, who doesn’t love it.
But don’t think that this is because China has low labor costs, low material costs, and little technical content. In fact, the rise of China’s body armor is entirely a technical route, and technology is king.
Making body armor is by no means as simple as ordinary people imagine. The only countries in the world that can independently develop and make body armor are the United States, the Netherlands and China.
Initially, due to the very late start, China’s body armor was not as good as others. It was not until the outbreak of the Vietnam War that our army stepped up the development of two types of body armor and put them into production in the early 1970s. This was the first mass production of body armor for the PLA.
At the same time, DuPont of the United States has developed a synthetic fiber called “Kevlar”. This material can absorb shrapnel energy 1.6 times that of nylon and twice that of steel, and it is also very light. In the 1980s, they also developed ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers with higher strength, further widening the gap.
As for China, Western countries once reached a tacit agreement that both technology and materials must be strictly sealed. But China still broke through the blockade and came from behind. How did it do it?
In addition to the investment of relevant departments, China has another trick: allowing private enterprises to produce body armor. Facts have proved that in the case of liberalizing market competition, China often plays the role of “developed country grinder”, and this time is no exception.
Body armor is closely related to the material chemical industry, so the leading companies in this industry are usually material companies. In this regard, China is no less.
The Ningbo Dacheng Company mentioned above is researching the production of chemical fiber materials. With the increasingly fierce competition in the textile industry, they began to develop bulletproof fibers, and it took 8 years to conquer ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene fibers. There is also the listed company Jihua Group, which is also a master in the field of chemical industry and chemical fiber. In addition to bulletproof vests, it also produces enterprise tooling, industry uniforms, etc.
Later, China developed body armor made of other advanced materials, such as silicon carbide and boron carbide ceramic materials, and successfully counterattacked.
On this basis, coupled with the fact that China’s industrial chain is very complete, the body armor made is naturally high in quality and low in price. Today, Chinese body armor has been widely recognized. Some foreigners wear Chinese body armor and carry bullets hard, defending the quality of Chinese body armor with their lives.
  China’s hard-core manufacturing
A few years ago, a German uncle, in order to test the difference between the Chinese counterfeit saber and the original saber, specially made a video calling on everyone to resist piracy. As a result, the counterfeit saber was not inferior to the original version at all, and the price was far lower than the genuine product, and the uncle was devastated.
When they got to know the Chinese engineering shovel, they couldn’t help exclaiming: the Swiss Army Knife can be thrown away. The engineering shovel designed and manufactured in China needs to go through 268 processes and 48 inspection links. The quality is amazing, and it can shovel, dig, plan, chop, saw, cut, and cut… There are as many as 18 functions. The Swiss Army Knife, known for its versatility, also pales in comparison.
Other products, such as the combat boots developed in China, have been bent 40,000 times in a row without cracks or glue, and can withstand a puncture with a force equivalent to 120 kilograms. And exoskeleton equipment put into use in the army. Wearing it can reduce shoulder weight by 30% when walking and 50% when standing. Official media reported that a female PLA nurse was able to easily run with a 140-jin wounded man on her back after being equipped with an exoskeleton.
China’s military equipment, these hard-core manufacturing is the same as ordinary Chinese manufacturing, and it is really impressive. Behind this is the result of China’s continuous pursuit and investment.
In August last year, the American “Fortune” magazine selected the list of the world’s top 500 companies. Six Chinese companies in the military industry entered the list, surpassing the United States. For example, the China Ordnance Industry Group, China’s largest army arms exporter, has been reported by the media that, with the group’s capabilities, it can easily provide all the equipment needed by the armies of small and medium-sized countries.
