Sheep in the city of paris

Two sheep graze on the slopes in the center of Paris.

It’s a difficult slope to trim, close to Saint-Lazare Train Station. Railroad tracks were laid deep down the slope like a valley. The slope was covered with weeds. The weeds are tall and not good-looking. Parisians are beautiful and must not look bad. How to do? The lawnmower cannot be used. If I was a teenager, using a sickle to cut it would be too expensive and dangerous. So, the most convenient way is to use herbicides. We use this in the countryside for weed control, which works well. You don’t have to remove the grass that much anymore. Weeding was a nightmare when I was a teenager. After school every day, I have to pluck and dig grass. Good grass is for pigs, and the grass that pigs don’t eat is dried for firewood.

But Paris banned the use of herbicides.

The most adequate use of herbicides is the US Air Force. They sprinkled a large amount of “orange agent” developed by Monsanto in the forests of Vietnam. The name sounds good, and the tree dies when it touches it. Since then, Monsanto has been out of control and has produced a large number of variants of this stuff to meet the needs of farmers around the world. Then, with it came terrible damage to the environment and the creation of super weeds.

The French were unwilling to let this happen, so they banned herbicides. The first time I saw a huge demonstration was in Strasbourg, France. Farmers happily drove various large tractors onto the street, protesting that the government was demanding too much of them. One of them is the excessively strict restrictions on herbicides in France. But no matter how troublesome, the French government’s restrictions on herbicides have not been relaxed over the years. Illness comes from the mouth, and food security is a big deal.

So, what about these weeds that can’t be cut and look bad in the city? Someone brought two sheep. Such a steep slope is no problem for sheep. Grass is also their favorite food. In this way, not only has the ecological environment been well maintained, it has also increased the rural scenery in the city.

I saw two sheep when I went out for a walk after a light rain. Two black sheep, they are a little cold, and they are crouched on the top of the slope, but they are quite cute.

I have found several batches of sheep in Paris, even in groups, and some people are rushing, they are in the park, in the open space (there is actually a lot of free space in Paris), and they are mowing on the roadside.

I suddenly remembered when I was young, when everyone wrote poems, people who wrote poems liked to use a “read” word, and one of the most used images was: “Sheep read grass on the hillside.”

These two black sheep have been reading grass on this oblique slope for many days.

It rained again.

American writer Rachel Carson wrote a masterpiece of naturalistic literature-“Silent Spring”. Spring is full of emotions, especially after the shock, and the little bugs have come out and are about to move. How can you say that spring is silent?

Because the abuse of chemical fertilizers, pesticides, and especially herbicides has caused terrible ecological damage. She uses ecological principles to analyze the harm that chemical pesticides pose to fragile ecosystems. Human-made poison will silence spring, and then spring will never be there. Because of this book, U.S. legislation banned the use of DDT (organochlorine pesticides) in agriculture in 1972.

It was still in Strasbourg that a company invented a technology that could remove soil toxicity and save land. I have been very excited for a long time and want to introduce it to China.

Spring is still lively at this moment. The shepherd also has a place to graze. The sheep was still reading the grass on the hillside. Although this scene is a little weird in the center of the noisy Paris, who can say that this is not a naive romance?
